Thistle Pate de Verre Diptych part 2
Thistle is protection. It is reputation. Aggressiveness and pride are associated with thistle, as is homeland, spells, witchcraft. This is a pate de verre cast taken from a plaster mold which was made from an impression of a thistle branch pressed in clay. Pate de verre is made of powdered glass (in this case white and clear) sifted over a mold and kiln-fused. The botanical glass print is ethereal, it gives a sense of memory and nostalgia and of a moment in time. The glass print is mounted on a the rusted top of a found metal box along with other found objects including a removable medicine bottle. It is part of a diptych with hydrangea, as can be seen in the images. Contact me to purchase the pair for $285.
