Angelica spp., Gossypium herbaceum over 2 days
2024, approx 1.5ft x 10in x 10in
This glass scroll-vessel represents the timeline of herb ingestion and insertion that one contemporary woman used to successfully induce miscarriage over a two day period. The length of the time the herbs were taken is represented by a sheet of glass frit (powder) first fused and then rolled up in kilns. One hour is represented as one horizontal centimeter. The walls of the scroll are thicker at the beginning and thinner towards release. Each plant has a different ‘symbol’, or shape, made of glass, which I added to the interior or exterior of the glass sheets along the ascribed timeline, before rolling into the scroll.
