Dis-ease

Dis-ease

2021

Glass and metal sculpture: mirror, 60/40 solder, copper foil, wooden frame

36in x 31in x 7in

Through repetition and time I have shifted from thinking of mirror as a consideration of self to an imperative to consider the collective. The gaps between how we see ourselves, how we think others see us, and how we are perceived by others is fluid. When the object is society as a whole, these gaps create profound collective dis-ease.“Dis-ease” allow us to reflect upon who the collective is, what it wants to be, and what it needs to believe to become that self.
