Harvest

Harvest

 Kiln Formed Glass

each basket approx. 30in x 15in x 15in

In both creation and use, baskets are vessels intimately linked with women’s work. There remains an ancient global tradition of weaving family motifs and stories into baskets. Baskets are about ancestor lines, symbolism, tribe, indigeneity and land stewardship. Woven baskets evoke the individual and societal body. The action/agency that they represent includes harvest, abundance and nourishment. Baskets contain the conversations that happen among the weavers and the spirit line that ensures that spirit doesn’t get trapped in the object. This pair of glass baskets, meant to be seen as two of many, intends to evoke abundance as well as the vulnerability of the long standing relationship between people and plants.
