This small handbroom is holstered in a deerskin wrap fastened with an antique brass button. It is a talisman and a tool, meant to be taken out on special occasions for ceremonial use. 

Brooms remind us that everyday tasks are ceremonial, that the sacred and the mundane are one in the same. Ceremonial brooms prompt the consideration: what will this object cleanse?

The center handle is made of glass frit fired one time in the kiln which gives it a more defined crystalline appearance than many of the other brooms in this collection. The glass cane bristles were added in the second kiln firing; I wrapped the frit handle around the bristles while the glass was hot in the kiln.
