Besom Trinity
Besom Trinity
kiln formed glass, copper, wood
5.5' x 4' x 1.5'
This set of three glass brooms is inspired by traditional witches besoms. Their fragility demonstrates optimism; their wear is the result of domestic meditation.
The bases are made of powdered glass sifted on kiln shelves repeatedly fired at 1330 F. In the final firing, the copper is added— at top temp I open the kiln and manipulate the glass, which results in gestural in-motion forms. The copper handles were fire patinaed. The holders are inspired by Amish
technology.
